The large part of the elderly people feels quite isolated from the rest of the society in Belarus. They need some assistance on social adaptation and reintegration. The self-aid groups can play double role: offering practical social assistance (home care, medical service etc.) and social reintegration (active participation in self-aid groups, cultural events, thematic clubs, education and leisure activities). Such initiatives are quite innovative in Belarus and parishes can play important role in promotion and practical implementation of such pilot project.
