The main aim of the Forum was: "Economic development in rural areas".

Within that aim in frames of the Forum program organized:

public debate with participation of central & local authorities, national and international organizations;
rural experts and practitioners presentations and lectures;
16 expositions promoting achievements, best practices and solutions, innovative technologies and methodologies for implementation in rural areas of Moldova.

Forum meeting gathered 196 participants representing:

central authorities (Ministries of: Agriculture, Environment, Regional Development, Economy and the State Chancellery) - 22 people

local authorities: CALM and mayors (31 people)
NGOs actively involved in rural development (54 people)
Development Regions: North, Center and South (28 people)
international organizations and diplomatic corps (32 people)
mass media/TV, radio, press (18 people)
technical staff and volunteers (11 people)

During evaluation session three main priorities were recommended for rural development in Moldova:

Access to clean water and water waste management (innovative technologies and management)
Alternative "green" energy (solar, biomass, biogas etc.)
Economic development in rural areas (promotion of innovative technologies and methodologies, model farms, service, modern infrastructure etc.)

Participants also agreed on long term Forum vision:

The National Forum for Rural Development is going to be the practical form of "know how" and innovation transfer both for authorities and civil sector in Moldova. At the same time Forum would be the platform for exchange of information and promotion of the best practices & most successful solutions for rural development. That might be also a place for creation of future alliances and coalitions for implementation of larger projects and programmes to respond to major challenges in agricultural and rural development sectors in Moldova.
