27 initiatives in 20 villages of Moldova were monitored. The vast majority of them relating to development of rural entrepreneurship (in frames of project 131/2013) are implemented in accordance to previously agreed plans. However, project 132/2013 for the construction of model water waste systems in rural areas, has a delay. The cause of the delay is long design process and the requirements for additional testing, conducted by the technical and scientific centers in Moldova, which allows the introduction of innovative technologies and new designing standards. In order to speed up the work, there was organized a meeting with Mr. Gheorghe Salaru, the Minister of Environment of Moldova and all stakeholders (designers, local authorities, representatives of the National Environmental Fund and the East Foundation), which discussed the possibility of changes to the plans of the project 132/2013, allowing for timely finalization of the work. Project coordinator also held meetings in Chisinau with representatives of the Deutsche Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit (GIZ), USAID and the Austrian Development Agency to discuss possible cooperation in the implementation of larger water waste systems in rural areas of Moldova.
